Cistercian Nuns

Our History

During Stephen Harding’s term as Abbot, St Bernard entered Citeaux along with 30 of his relatives.  Born of the minor nobility, his family was blessed with dignity, power, influence and material possessions. Bernard himself was well educated and extremely gifted. The positions he might hold in the affairs of the world, however,  held no attraction for him. He was in love with God - a love without measure.
